On March 8, 2013 Kevin Smith posted this on his Facebook page:
THE BEGINNING OF THE END
20 years ago today, we started shooting CLERKS.
20 years later, with no plan or provocation, I jumped out of bed at 4:20 this morning and started writing CLERKS III.
It’s been like hanging out with old friends.
And after 2 hours of tapping the keys and giggling, I have come to a conclusion…
CLERKS III will be the best film I’ll ever make.
He also posted a title page along with it.
For weeks have Smith has been talking about action on the trilogy for his classic Clerks film but has been pessimistic about it actually happening.
One of the main reasons was because Jeff Anderson (Randall) wasn’t too sure on signing for the third movie.
Smith has been waiting on Anderson’s “OK,” and apparently he got it.
According to Smith, this will be his last and final movie he will write and direct and how appropriate and poetic for Kevin Smith.
As a Kevin Smith fan, I am excited more than pessimistic.
Smith doesn’t have the pressure Coppola had for Godfather III because Clerks has never been the kind of movie the Godfather has been by critics.
It is mostly a win-win situation for Kevin Smith and his crew and as well as fans of his fans because Kevin Smith can always promise lots of laughs and he come through.
