The Lone Ranger and The Wolverine Are Grown Ups…2 (A July 2013 Film Preview)

By Eriq Rivera

The series of big name movies will continue into the month of July.

This month’s theme happens to be more on “Part 2” movies as well as much more comedies.

July 7

Johnny Depp returns in a Disney action but not as a pirate. Depp will play a Native American warrior alongside The Lone Ranger. Armie Hammer will play as The Lone Ranger. The movie is about the fictional masked ex-Texas Ranger (not the baseball team) who befriended a Native American man named Tonto (not the spanish translated word meaning crazy – well, maybe).

The first “part two” movie on the month will be Despicable Me 2. Funnyman Steve Carrell will voice Gru again in the animated film. Part 2 will have the voices of Ken Jeong, Miranda Cosgrove, Kristen Wiig, Benjamin Bratt and more.

Comedian Kevin Hart will have his special Let Me Explain in theatres nationwide (talk about being a successful comedian). The show was filmed in front of a sold out crowd in legendary Madison Square Garden.

July 5

Steve Carrell’s named shall mentioned again as he stars in another July movie called The Way, Way Back. The film will also star Soul Surfer’s AnnaSophia Robb, Amanda Peet and Rob Corddry.

July 12

Alright sci-fi and Guillermo Del Toro fans, this one is for you. Pacific Rim is about an alien attack and who/what will save the human race? Well, robots of course! This robots Vs. alien flick stars Idris Elba, Ron Pearlman, Charlie Hunnam and more!

Adam Sandler returns with his main men in the least anticipated Grown Ups 2. That’s right guys, if you weren’t already annoyed by the terrible jokes along with the “chocolate wasted” lines then get ready for part two of that. Or you can just not watch it – up to you ladies and gentlemen.

July 17

Turbo will be the second animated movie of the month. The film will include voices of Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti, Michael Pena, Luis Guzman (not our videogames reporter), Ken Jeong, Michelle Rodriguez and more. Here’s the plot and get ready to be not amused – it’s about a snail trying to win the Indy 500.

July 19

Vera Farmiga stars in The Conjuring – a movie about paranormal experts trying to save a family from the horror! True story

The action-packed veterans-cast of Red come together again for Red 2. Bruce Willis and Hellen Mirren reunite as they try to find a nuclear portable device!

Jeff Bridges, Kevin Bacon and…Ryan Reynolds? One of these things is not like the others, one of these things just doesn’t belong. This group of gentlemen will star in R.I.P.D., a movie about a dead cop teaming up with living cops to try to find the man that killed him. You read that correctly.

Girl Most Likely is a movie about someone who goes from the next nationwide sensation to the never mind sensation. The film stars Kristen Wiig and Matt Dillon among others.

July 26

Hugh Jackman stars as the wolverine once again in the X-Men spinoff The Wolverine. In this flick, Wolverine heads over to Japan to meet just an old enemy.

Isn’t there always something you want to do in high school? Preferably something exciting with experimentation. Well – that’s what The To Do List is all about. Brandy Clarke (Aubrey Plaza) makes a list of things she wants to do before college but the main things she wants to do is experiment a lot very her sexuality. Oh yeah!

July 31

And last and definitely least (well a little ahead of Grown Ups 2) comes The Smurfs 2. This film will bring you the all-star once again very similar from the first film.
