Congratulations! You made to the new year now time for the most mediocre month in cinema. Of course, January is just used to build in momentum for award season so we can probably not expect any “Ooh my God, I can’t wait to see that film again,” kind of films.
The month begins by attempting to scare the hair off of you with the spinoff of the Paranormal Activity franchise, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones. If you still find this stuff scary then you’re off to a scary new year. This film is of course about the haunting of “mysterious forces” after a man has been “marked.” BOO.
And the myths keep on coming… Except this time we have some Greek mythology. The Legend of Hercules will star Twilight’s Kellan Lutz (so I read) (not the books, his filmography) (I don’t read Twilight). It is of course about the Greek God and his exciting adventures. It’s pretty much a Immortals, 300 wanna be.
Missed Mark Wahlberg? Well Mark Wahlberg a.k.a Matt Damon misses you too so he decided he has Lone Survivor coming out on this date. Wahlberg stars along Ben Foster, Eric Bana and more to bring you the story of the failed mission that happened in 2005 on which a SEAL team were sent to kill Taliban leader Ahmad Shahd.
Chris Pine and Kevin Costner star in Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. The film is about a CIA agent who uncovers a terrorist attacked that will destroy the U.S. economy.
Filmmakers insist in getting you scared this year and now they have Devil’s Due to try to scare the Jesus out of you. The film with not many stars seems to be about a newlywed couple who happened to give premature birth in their honeymoon. As the couple do all that crazy stuff to make sure the baby is born, strange things start to go on with the wife’s body. Uh Oh.
With its already nutty movie title, The Nut Job seems pretty nutty itself. The film is about a squirrel who is forced to live in the city but life starts to get hard as it turns to winter season. Will Arnett, Brendan Fraser, Liam Neeson, Katherine Heigl, and Gabriel Iglesias are among voices you’ll hear in one of the first animated films of the year.
Ride along with Ice Cube and Kevin Hart in Ride Along. The comedy duo is set to bring you a story about two cops where one cop is trying to impress his partner so that he can get with his partner’s sister.
I, Frankenstein is all about Frankenstein’s creatures doing some good old battles. Aaron Eckhart stars in a movie directed by Pirates of the Caribbean writer Stuart Beattie.
Kate Winslet bring you another drama, she also brings you Labor Day a little early with Labor Day. Winslet stars alongside Josh Brolin to bring you a story about a mother and a son offer help to wounded man who turns out to be a convict.
Here’s another story called That Awkward Moment because is more scarier than having awkward moments. Actually I lied, it’s not horror movie is just a movie with Zac Efron in it. It is also a movie about three best friends who get into weird part of relationships. *Yawns*
