With Pride, Prejudice and Zombies, Deadpool Hails Ceasar (A February 2016 Films Preview)

February is the month of the lovers, or a month to appreciate presidents, or a month to appreciate African American history, whichever way you prefer, the big screen is set help you enjoy this very short month.

Feb. 5

The Coen brothers are back and this time, they’re bringing an All-Star cast of Josh Brolin, George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, Channing Tatum, Jonah Hill and more in Hail, Ceasar!. This comedy/drama/musical is about a Hollywood producer in the ’50s who is trying to keep his stars in check.

The first chick flick of the month is called The Choice. The film is an adaptation of a novel by the same name written by Nicholas Sparks. Benjamin Walker (In the Heart of the Sea, Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) falls in love with the next door girl (Teresa Palmer).

What better way to honor and modernize an old time classic novel than to remake it with bizarre twist. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies is retake of the classic novel by Jane Austen but this time, England’s biggest enemy is not futbol but it zombies.

Feb. 12

The wait is finally over and geeks can come off their Star Wars hangover as Deadpool has arrived. Ryan Reynolds stars as the sarcastic superhero everyone knows.

As much as most romantic films teach people how to be romantic, this film teaches the same variable but as a lonesome single person. How to Be Single is a comedy about a group friends that are learning how to be single in New York.

It’s been 15 years since we saw the last of Zoolander (unless you’re a big fan and have watched the film almost every year). Ben Stiller returns as Zoolander in Zoolander 2 as he stars with Owen Wilson, Will Ferrell, Penelope Cruz, Olivia Munn and a few special guests.

Feb. 19

Race is a biopic on Jesse Owens. Owens was a track and field star who competed in the 1936 Olympics as he tried to overcome Adolf Hitler.

Kevin Reynolds (Waterwold director) bring us Risen, a biblical epic about the Resurrection as told by a powerful non-believer Roman.

Feb. 26

Eddie the Eagle is a biopic on the first British ski jumper who competed in the Winter Olympics. Hugh Jackman and Christopher Walken star in the film directed by Dexter Fletcher.

Egypt is blessed with many Gods as Gerard Butler stars in Gods of Egypt. This is not Sparta but Egypt, a place where Gods can just roam around.

Gal Gadot, Teresa Palmer, Kate Winslet, Aaron Paul, Woody Harrelson, and Casey Affleck star in Triple 9. The film a crime thriller about a gang corrupt cops join forces to execute the greatest heist in history.
